E-commerce Product Photo Workflow

This workflow is rated "Beginner" and takes about 1-2 hours, with 3 steps across 3 tools. Steps are editorial suggestions — add or drop stages to fit your project, and confirm each tool's account, quota, and platform requirements before starting to avoid interruptions.

Composite products into on-brand marketing scenes.

    Suggested tool: Flair AI

Executable exercise and acceptance

This is an editorial procedure based on official documentation, not a completed product test. Inputs and numbers are exercise targets; expected results are acceptance criteria, not observed performance. Listed durations are planning estimates. Record actual versions and settings; cloud outputs can vary.

Prepare inputs

Input: front and side photos of one SKU and its real label text. Deliver one white-background image and two scenes, using the destination platform's size requirements.

Environment, versions, and prerequisites

Use remove.bg for cutouts and Flair AI or Photoroom for backgrounds; retain an ungenerated product layer. Confirm export access, transparency format, and marketplace main-image rules first.

Run in this order

  1. Cut out the front photo; inspect edges against dark and light backgrounds and repair missed regions.
  2. Generate backgrounds only, composite the real product back, check contact shadows against the side photo, and compare label text.
  3. Export the white main image and two labeled scene assets; verify crop, dimensions, and margins against platform rules.

Copyable English exercise fixture

SKU fixture: matte blue 350 ml mug, real label retained. Background A: plain white. Background B: breakfast table. Background C: office desk. Do not regenerate logo, handle, color, or capacity label.

Expected delivery and pass criteria

  • Three purpose-labeled assets, a recoverable product layer, and a platform checklist. Shape, color, and label must match the source photos.

Failure conditions and fallback

  • Reject garbled labels, changed color, exaggerated scale, or halos. Do not claim compliance without checking platform rules or imply accessories that are not included.

Common mistakes to avoid

These are typical pitfalls our editors hit when assembling similar tool chains — check against them before you start and save yourself rework:

  • Rough cutout edges that cheapen the final image
  • Scenes that clash with brand identity, creating visual inconsistency
  • Not exporting to platform specs, leading to compression or cropping
