The official docs site opened on 2026-10-12 describes Aider as AI pair programming in your terminal. Install by running python -m pip install aider-install and then aider-install, with Python 3.8–3.13 already on the machine; official install.sh, uv, pipx, and Homebrew paths also exist. The model page lists providers by section — OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Azure, Cohere, DeepSeek, Ollama, LM Studio, OpenRouter, GitHub Copilot, Vertex AI, Amazon Bedrock, and OpenAI-compatible APIs — selected at launch with --model and --api-key, with credentials in environment variables, .env, or .aider.conf.yml.
